Get a Lakes Life, the entity that recruits people to move to the Lakes of Northwest Iowa, is promoting their online and in-person resources to help start small business in the lake region. The resources include self-assessments of the business owner’s leadership team, opportunities to exchange ideas among other business owners and professional referrals for various professional support services.
A summer favorite for many Iowans is visiting a state park. And this year is no exception. In fact, there are a record number of people flocking to the Iowa state parks. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources wants to help keep both you and the parks safe and clean for everyone. Their list of six ways to show you care when you visit has some easy tips for everyone. Some are obvious, such as picking up your trash, while some may be a bit surprising, like keeping your dogs on a leash at all times.

As kids across the country are on summer vacation, a good book is a fantastic way to unwind and explore a new world. Sarah Prineas of Prairie Lights Books in Iowa City and Devin Redmond of Coralville Central Elementary met with Iowa Public Radio to create a list of the best new books for children and teens this summer. With selections for picture books, young adult, poetry, non-fiction and more, it’s easy to find a choice for every one of your children, no matter the age. There’s also an adult summer reading list if you need to pick up a book for yourself!
